Getting involved in Guiding gives girls access to activities they would not normally get the chance to try - all provided in a safe environment with qualified instructors.

As well as the outdoor activities on offer - canoeing, rock climbing, abseiling - in 2001 we also provided archery courses, swimming trips and the chance to take badges in almost any activity you can imagine from horse-riding and dancing to water safety and short tennis. The only limitations we have are on finding someone suitable qualified to help us run the activity!!!

But good health does not only come through physical activity. We also work with our members to promote self-esteem and confidence - to encourage them to believe in themselves no matter what their abilities.

We do this in a variety of ways including:

  • Activities which challenge preconceived ideas of image.
  • Peer support programmes.
  • An ethos which allows the girl to think for herself and make her own decisions.
