Enjoying the Arts Enjoying the Arts

Giving both girls and adults the chance to be creative is an important part of Guiding. Whether it is making something, learning a new skill or giving them a chance to perform our programme seeks to stretch their abilities and maximise their potential. Girls and adults from across the County were involved in a range of arts and crafts activities this year. Examples include:

  • Units in Biggleswade took part in the biannual gang show in the village.
  • First Shillington Guides in East Bedfordshire ran a cook out competition to test their culinary skills.
  • Stockwood District held an activity day where girls of all ages could try out craft activities.
  • Girls in Linslade District took part in a Space Day where they made things from Antennae to wear to chocolate aliens to eat.
  • Girls of all ages in South Bedfordshire visited the crazy craft cafe an exciting new venture started by two local Guiders.
  • A fun day on the theme of Alice in Wonderland was held in Luton north. Activities included making Jam Tarts, Crowns and Rabbit pictures for the younger girls as well as survival activities in the woods for the Guides.

And when it comes to appreciating the arts we had a fun - packed programme from camp fires and visits to the local theatre.
