Three Counties Radio Opening

Three Counties Presenters
We visited the BBC Three Counties Radio Station to get a look at what really goes on. We saw loads of studios and different rooms all with different functions. It was all good fun and quite interesting and we all managed to get on the web cam!
Luke Sports Three Counties Radio
The radio station is all talking and no music, it has football on Saturday and the main teams that they have live commentary on are Luton, Watford and now Wimbledon because they have moved to the new stadium in Milton Keynes. The radio area is herts, beds and bucks:
Herts-103.8fm, Beds-95.5fm, Bucks-104.5fm
Collecting the Scores for Three Counties Radio
All the phone calls are live but they talk to everyone before letting them on the radio so they know who they are and what they want to talk about.
They update their web cam every five minutes and update any new pages, do the weather reports and the front page, first thing in the morning, and in the late afternoon. The web team keeps the web page up to date and add any new items.
They measure popularity in clicks and last week they got 318,518, which is a new record. The weirdest thing that someone has asked them on the message board has been a favourite toy, cold remedies and apparently some people just start stuff off.

The website has been up and running for two and a half years. They have 1000's of pages on the web and nothing is ever taken of the site. It is the biggest website in the world.
Jan crreating our web page
When we were there we luckily got the chance to add our own page to the BBC website .We all created page for our Baden Powell challenge and you can visit it at www.bbc.co.uk/threecounties/read_this/2003/10/guides.shtlm
.
We had a tour of the building and after our web-making attempt, we said goodbye and made our way back to the car. But we all enjoyed this new experience to see how a radio station works and the how the professionals set up their websites.
