Vision
events latest news
Important changes to the broadcast.
Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond Girlguiding UK's control,
it will no longer be possible to broadcast the Vision programme
via Freeview on 20.10 20/10 2010. The other options for viewing
the programme via Sky, Virgin Media and the internet remain unchanged.
This change is because the Community Channel is no longer available
on Freeview in the evenings and the bandwidth has been allocated
to another channel which is a situation that Girlguiding UK cannot
influence. We hope that with a range of options still available
that all our members will be able to watch the broadcast and join
in the celebrations. Further inforamtion is available on the Vision
Website http://www.girlguiding100years.org.uk/centenary_finale.aspx

The rehearsals
are now firmly underway. Some Divisions are still looking for additional
girls and adults to take part. If you have not been invited speak
to your Guider or Commissioner to see if there are any opportunities
for your Division.

South American
Activities pack This pack has been put together to raise money for Girlguiding
centenary trips, as part of the Trans Andes Charity Challenge. Between
30 January and 8 February 2010 a group of Guiders, including myself
will be taking part in a once in a life time chance to complete
a breathtaking horse trek in Chile and Argentina as a special way
to celebrate Girlguiding Centenary! As part of the Trans Andes Charity
Challenge they will be trekking through spectacular scenery including
glaciers, waterfalls, forests and glacial lakes. You can do a small
selection of the activities or all, it is up to you. I have given
an indication of which section the activity is suitable for, but
you may wish to adapt it for younger girls where appropriate. The
pack includes crafts, cooking, games, songs, word searches suitable
for all sections. Associated with the pack is the Trans Andes Charity
Challenge badge which cost £1 each.
I need to raise £2600 in order to take part in this Centenary
Adventure, I have raised £1000 so far and hope to raise another
£350 by selling the badges that go with this pack. Get
the Activity Pack by clicking here. Badges can be ordered from

Message from
Louise and the 4th Cambridge Brownies
As part of our centenary celebration plans we are trying to exchange
email messages with at least 100 units. To help facilitate this
we have set up a yahoo group.
Would it be possible to let guiders in your county know about the
group (details below)? 100 Messages Centenary Exchange:
This is a yahoo group created by a unit in Cambridgeshire East as
part of their centenary celebration plans. The idea: Each unit (or six/patrol) composes a message describing
how they celebrated the centenary launch and what else they are
planning to celebrate 100 years of guiding. Guiders (having checked
the message does not contain 'personal' information that would be
a safe from harm issue) then use the database of participating units
to send their message by email. The aim: To try to exchange your message with 100 units.
The guider can then print the messages to share with the girls.
Some units may like to turn the messages into a scrap book. To apply to join the group, please visit http://groups.yahoo.com/group/guidingcentenary/
and click 'join this group'. If you need any help, please contact
