"We have much
to be proud of in Bedfordshire. As part of a world-wide Movement
and the laragest voluntary organisation for girls and women, our
future is bright.
Like any movement we
are constantly adapting our programme to meet the needs of the girls
- challenging them to try new experiences, to brush up on their
skills, to work as part of a team and most of all, to enjoy the
fun and friendship that Guiding offers.
However you are involved
with us as a volunteer, supporter or friend I would like to thank
you for the contribution you have mede to guiding in Bedfordshire
and in helping us encourage every girl - and adult - to meet her
potential." Jeanne Wain County President
"We live in an
age where there has never been a greater choice of pastimes and
activities with which to indulge our leisure time. There are Clubs
ans Associations covering all manner of sporting and socall activities.
At the same time, today's school curriculum covers far more than
the fundamental reading, writing and arithmatic. So many groups
are vying for the limited time of our young people. So what, you
may ask, keeps them tuning up to their weekly meeting to take part
in the programme we offer?
That's easy to answer.
It is the variety, the spontaneity and the enthusiam that is put
into Guiding week in week out. There is a magic about
Guiding. As adults, we know there must be something special to encourage
us to take part in the hours of training to learn and keep our skills
up to date, to spend time preparing and running weekly meetings,
and to give the girls the experiences they could not have anywhere
else.
For those who have experienced
the magic of working with our young people I don't have to explain
further. But I would just like to put on record that Bedfordshire
County could not operate without the dedicated band of Guiders who
became involved with training and administration, our Unit Helpers,
our Trefoil members and our supportive parents. On behalf of our
young people Iwould like to thank you for all your help over the
past year and for the support that you have shown to me. I look
forward to working with you all over the coming year." Margaret
