County Guide Adviser
Baden-Powell Adventures in
2011 There is now a calendar of BP Adventures around the UK which will be updated as and when information is found about out of county BP Adventures. Please also do check Anglia Region's diary when trying to locate a BP Adventure for a Guide. It is encouraged that you look early for adventures, as although Guides need to have completed at least 8 out of 10 challenges by the time they attend, you will probably need to book at least a month, if not several months in advance. ICANDO is very popular and the next available weekend is April 2011 which is already filling up very quickly. If a Guide in your unit would like to attend an Adventure out of County, please let Kate Davies know as soon as possible with details. Bedfordshire operate a system where County pays £10 per Guide, her Division pays £10, her District pays £10 and her Unit pays £10. The Guide would then pay the remainder (or make arrangements with Unit or local Guiding). County can make balance payments for weekends as long as notification is given at the time the Guide books their place on the Adventure. Please note that a BP Adventure
cannot be completed by attending a residential or camp other than
an official Adventure, and that a Guide really should not reach
the Adventure stage until she is 13, and must not begin the Challenge
before her 12th Birthday. Guides must complete the Challenge, including
Adventure before moving to the Senior Section or leaving Guides.
