As international adviser I am responsible for dealing with all queries relating to girls and leaders going on international trips as Girlguiding members, as well as providing a point of reference for any Guiders interested in doing international activities with their units. The county tries to organise international opportunities each year to give girls the chance to experience Guiding on a wider scale. The county international Advisor organises regular activity days to give girls the chance to experience international activities, as well as a weekend events to promote international opportunities.

International Opportunities


INTOPS 2012
INTOPS is where Girlguiding UK members aged between 17 and 30 can find out about all the International Opportunities (INTOPS) available to them, including the GOLD trips. Expect to be informed, surprised and have your tenacity and teamwork tested. It can also count towards the Residential Clause in the Queens Guide Award and Duke of Edinburgh's Award.
INTOPS 2012 will take place at Woodhouse Park in the South West region on 28 - 30 September 2012. More information will be available in the Spring and in the meantime anyone interested in attending can join the mailing list by emailing intops@girlguiding.org.uk.

Region ICE Co-ordinator NEEDED!
ICE (International Community Experience) is an innovative project that combines Community Action work and International experiences to provide a
challenging and purposeful opportunity for Guides. ICE is aimed at the age range of 11-13 years.
We are looking for a Region ICE Co-ordinator who has the following attributes:
• An interest in Community Action
• Can relate to the relevant age range (11-13 years)
• Can maintain effective communications with the Region International Adviser, the
ICE Team, Anglia Region Office, groups members, parents and Leaders
• Good planning, budgeting and evaluation skills
• Good at forging relationships with community partners and other charitable organisations

Invitation to apply for the role of Girlguiding UK member on the World Scout MOOT UK Contingent Management Team (CMT)
.
A World Scout Moot is an opportunity for 18 – 25 year old members of guiding and scouting to meet up, share stories and strengthen international understanding. The next Moot is being hosted by the Association des Scouts du Canada from 8 – 18 July 2013. It will bring together 5,000 young people from around the world.
Girlguiding UK will be sending a Contingent to the Moot, alongside the Scout Association (TSA). To help plan and prepare for the event, a Contingent Management Team is being put together. The team will start planning in 2012 and will help to ensure that the UK Contingent has the best possible experience at the Moot.
We are seeking to fill the role of Girlguiding UK member on the UK Contingent Management Team for the 14th World Scout Moot, to be held in Canada in 2013. Click for more information and role description

Roverway 2012 will be held in Finland from 20 - 28 July.
It is an outdoors, adventurous event for guides and scouts aged 16 - 22. Young women can register either as individuals or groups of 5 - 15, including leaders (who can be over 22). Over 18s also have the option of registering to be a part of the International Service Team.
The cost for being a part of the UK Contingent is up to £525 per person (£360 for IST members). This does not include travel to and from Finland. There will be a briefing weekend for the Girlguiding UK contingent on 27 - 29 April 2012, which is included in the cost (bar travel).
In order to register, we must receive a completed Registration form, deposit of £160 (£100 for IST), membership number and an email address for each participant.


The Magic Continues - Iceland International Jamboree 2012
The summer of 2012 will mark the 100th year anniversary of Scouting in Iceland. To celebrate this milestone the Icelandic scouts will host a great interNational Jamboree at the very same spot as RoverWay 2009 took place; -Lake Úlfljótsvatn.Click for more information


Join Denmarks Largest Jamboree - Jamboree Denmark 2012
Guides and Scouts from all over the world will come together in July 2012 at the largest national Jamboree ever held in Denmark. It is hosted by all five internationally recognised Danish Associations and will be the first joint Jamboree for all Danish Guides and Scouts.

Switzerland is a magical place to enjoy winter snow activities and adventure. Would you like to visit our WAGGGS World Centre?
Winter Activities
We are writing to let you know that we are still open for bookings for Winter (December 2010 - March 2011) for independent guests and groups. Would you like to try winter hiking, snow shoeing, sledding, igloo building, snow games, skiing or snowboarding?
Weather dependent, some of these activities are available to be enjoyed in Spring (April and May 2011).
Rover Week (12 - 19 February 2011)
The adult event is open to members of WAGGGS and WOSM aged 18 - 30, and will provide participants the chance to try winter alpine activities and also contribute service hours to the Centre. The reduced package price is CHF 650/EUR 450.

Drop into Poland 31.07-09.08.2012
This is the fourth international camp organised by the Garwolin ZHP District - the first was in 1995 previously scouts and guides attended from UK, France, Germany, Sweden, Kazakstan Holland USA and of course from Poland.
Scouts and guides over 11 years old are invited to take part in our camp. It is planned that each visiting group (10-15 participants) will be partnered with local scout or guide group and they will camp and eat and undertake the programme together. Click for more information

Anglia International Bursary
The Anglia International Bursary is to help those members of Girlguiding Anglia taking part in a Guiding International Adventure. Funds are received from the Chief's Memorial Fund and are available to members of Girlguiding Anglia attending a guiding trip overseas who are not eligible to apply for any other Girlguiding Anglia Grant.
