What Guiding is all about in Bedfordshire

Our commitment to young people

In 2000, adults in Bedfordshire gave more than 200,000 hours voluntarily to Guiding. If they were employed by the Youth Service this would be more than t110 full-time jobs in the County worth over £1.1million

Guiding in Bedfordshire is about providing opportunities for girls and young women to:

  • Be challenged by new adventures and experiences and take pride in their achievements.
  • Develop self-awareness, self-respect and self-confidence
  • Develop a personal faith and values to give life meaning and direction
  • Think for themselves, govern themselves and make their own decisions
  • Make friends and have fun
  • Develop a sense of tolerance, justice, kindness and honour
  • Learn about teamwork and gain leadership skills
  • Appreciate the environment
  • Understand about the world, its people and cultures

We provide these opportunities in ways that ensure that our members can achieve their own personal best whether they are 5 or 65.

With more than 6,000 members, we are the largest voluntary organisation for girls and women in Bedfordshire. We have over ninety years' experience in helping our members grow and develop; and the benefits we bring can be felt across the county - from our work to improve the environment to supporting the needs of our local community.
