WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT RAINBOWS
Rainbow Jigsaw programme

Everything a Rainbow does helps her to develop – it’s an opportunity to look, learn, laugh and love.

As a Rainbow your daughter is a member of Girlguiding UK, the largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women in this country. It has about 600,000 members. There are similar organisations throughout the world and Girlguiding UK is a founding member of the world Association that unites them.

Any girl aged five or over can be a Rainbow. The oldest Rainbows are usually about seven years old. Membership of Girlguiding UK is voluntary and is open to any girl or woman, regardless of faith, race, culture, nationality or any other circumstance, provided she is able to understand and willing to make the Promise.

Rainbows make this simple Promise that they share with members around the world.

I promise that I will do my best to love my God and to be kind and helpful.

Rainbow units meet regularly, usually once a week during school terms. There are often other opportunities for Rainbows to take part in special activities and events throughout the year. Some units organise overnight events for the Rainbows.

A Rainbow chooses her outfit from a range of Rainbow wear. The specially designed Rainbow clothes are stylish, practical, economical and fun for today’s girls. There is something to suit every Rainbow whatever she is doing, indoors or out – so she is bound to find something she will love to wear. A Rainbow does not have to wear the same combination of garments as others in her unit.

Because of the high ratios of adults to children, Rainbow units often actively look for parents to get involved in the meeting – so don’t be too surprised when your daughter joins if you are asked to help!

Rainbows is extremely popular across Bedfordshire and waiting lists for places are often long. So it is advisable to put your daughter’s name down with the local unit as soon as possible (get in touch with us for your nearest unit)
