In September and October 2001 we began our second ever recruitment and PR campaign in Bedfordshire. Our aim - to tell people about Guiding and what it offers and to encourage new volunteers to come forward. And what fun we had! Our theme for recruitment month this year was BUGS.

Guiders and girls of all ages got involved in a variety of BUG - related activities to promote Guiding:

• 1500 Beds Bugs with their own adoption papers went to good homes to raise the profile of Guiding.
• We produced a pack of Bug - Related activities for each unit to use.
• We put Bugmarks into all local libraries.
• We had displays in Bedford and Luton about what Guiding has to offer.
• We wrote to every school, Doctor's surgery and Health Center telling them about what we do.
• We wrote to tell 100 major companies around the county about the benefits their employees could have in becoming a Guiding volunteer.
• Along with out newsletter Beds Buzz - we hope to reach as many people as possible with the Guiding message.

We also set up a hotline number for people who want to volunteer with us Hotline number - 07803845588.

This year we have also seen the development of Bedfordshire Guide Association's Web Site which gives people access to everything that is going on in Guiding in Bedfordshire.
