The Queens Guide Badge The Queens Guide Badge (Guidings Higest Award) was originally introduced in 1946 when the late Queen Mother was Queen Elizabeth. It was developed as a special test for Guides with the aim of producing the best type of all-round person. As Queen, she gave permission for the award to carry the insignia of her crown, enhancing the honour of this royal badge. Over the past 56 years, the badge programme has been developed to remain contemporary with the challenges young women face. It now carries the crown of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, to continue the prestige of the award. Girlguiding
UK has been campaigning to find Queen's Guides for the past two years.
Already more than 18,000 women have come forward nationwide. If you haven't

A Special Garden Party at Sandringham On Saturday 12th July the Anglia Region held a special Garden Party at Sandringham. The day was one of the hottest of the summer and up 600 Queens Guides came along to enjoy the special day. Some of these had received their awards during its early years and others very recently. Local Brownies, Guides, Rainbows and Young Leaders put on a range of displays and each County hosted a stand about their local area. There was so much chattering going on it was clear that all of these people were remembering the fun they had whilst gaining their badge and as Guides. All had the opportunity to have their picture taken and share in a special garden party tea. The day finished with current members singing songs relevant to their section. It was a truly wonderful day. |
