Local Guiding on an International Scale On an International Scale

Thinking Day on February 22nd is traditionally the time in Guiding when we remember our friends over seas and this year was no exception.

Activities with an International theme included:

  • A World evening run by the Little Staughton brownies with food, games and entertainment - to which parents and friends were invited.
  • An activity afternoon in Linslade District to celebrate Thinking Day.

The international opportunities offered in Guiding extend beyond our thinking Day activities we provide a range of International camps, projects and community development opportunities for the older girl to link up with Guides across the world.

In 2001:

  • Two Guides and one Young Leader from South Ouse District went on an International camp to Towcester.
  • A Young Leader from potton spent New Year at an Australian International Camp.
  • A Young Leader from Biggleswade was selected to go on an International camp in Denmark.
  • Guiders from the 3rd Sundon Unit in Luton enjoyed an adventure holiday in Italy.

Such International opportunities are a great way to experience and gain a better understanding of different cultures as well as making friends across the globe.
